The Wary One

Part 1

There once was a dragon of unspeakable beauty and grace. It existed only to live and bring joy to its family. Its family had placed an unbearable burden. Too heavy for mortal man. Its burden was that of earning the respect of a very uncommon tricky thief by the name of Zidane. It was required that he try and tame the wild spirit of this thief by showing him the ways of the dragon. Twas a burden because the dragon had a fear of humans, it had a fear of exile and most of all a fear of himself.
The Dragon wandered searching for this thief whose heart he should tame. He flew above a village Alexandria by name. He saw a great thief and a princess, in their rush they were running away from the castle. The queen after them had her army ready to go by any means necessary. They were trapped yet somehow they escaped. But with their airship badly damaged crashed in an evil forest. I knew this forest, its every tree; I'd frolicked there when I was a child. But it as no place for mortal man but still I watched a while. Then I heard a scream of terror and what I dreaded came true, the plant King that resided there had found my thief and sealed his doom. But still alive he had seemed. Some how he defeated the king, making the woods furious, the plants alive began to stir and try to attack my hope. I had no other choice they needed my help. So I petrified that forest as soon as they were out. But alas the trouble was not every one got out.
My thief escaped with a lot of friends and all but one survived I had made him rock hard stone. But yet he never died. They traveled on into the cave, made of glistening ice. I waited for a month on the other side and finally they appeared. They trekked on going from one town to the next while I slowly drifted behind. They trekked on but something strange twinged me about that princess as if she could speak to me or something and I could understand her.
You see, I am one of the 2 rarest dragons on earth; I am Bahamut a future King of Dragons. I am obliged to help a certain group of summoners on an island far away. But this girl can't have been a summoner she was too far away from the island.
I was wrong, so very wrong, it wasn’t till we reached a town of industry and mechanics that I realized how wrong I was.

Part 2

I had watched carefully as this girl was abducted by her mother and extracted from her was the summoning powers that I am told to obey. I was shocked. It could not be a summoner from a far away land a princess I had decided to help the clan which had once helped us dragons so I raced to find the Thief. I found him near the edge of Pinnacle rocks where the Great wise Thunder God lived I had for some time heard of him owing the same debt I had but never believed it.
That was till I saw him talking to my Thief. I was shocked Ramuh speaking with a... a mortal. They needed help so I Appeared in front of them. Now Ramuh knew me very well and of my Decedents. But to a mortal a dragon appearing out of thin air kind of startled him. Ramuh explained my pact with the Princess and he calmed down a little. I later learned that his name was Zidane and the princess I spoke of was Garnet. But what confused me most was I never served a Garnet. So I told him of what happened and What the Queen was plotting and he ran to her rescue. I followed but did not help. I started to overcome my fears and become more brave and powerful.
It wasn’t till we reached The Industrial City that I realized they were in serious danger. Out of a stone the Queen summoned Atomos The God of Emptiness and space that I realized other forces have been awakened. I knew that we must flee so I took them to a sanctuary called Madain Sari. The place of the Clan that I was in Debt to.
Now mind you, I don't particularly like humans but these were exceptional beings. Their will to survive astounded me and so I watched over them further.

Part 3

Now as they rested I decided to talk to Ramuh I asked how does this woman of evil control the pact that we have with the summoners?
"I fear that this woman has harvested the powers from that princess for her own use Bahumut," Ramuh answered.
I was outraged. I asked how could such a power be stopped. Ramuh answered, "Only you can stop it but you still lack the wisdom and strength. Go to the temple of Wisdom located at Oeilvert. There you will realize the wisdom of the old code."
    "I shall need a map."
"Here take this one let it lead you well."
So I flew to Oeilvert in search of the wisdom to overcome my enemies. I stayed for 3 days studying and researching. I grew immense wisdom and power from my knowledge. I returned to find my group, well rested and accompanied with a new friend! Eiko I soon realized was her name. She was the last of the summoning tribe but I knew better. She had control of healing powers and taught her ways to Garnet who mastered and expanded them creating help for her comrades. We traveled South to Chocobos forest. I had a friend there who could take the load off my back. He was a Chocobos and was glad to help.
So then we journeyed to the North to the Lifa Tree a source of all mist. We found an unusual character there by the name of Carbuncle not one I had seen before he was a god like me but a fox was his form he had protected the tree for centuries. But was just removed by Eiko. It seemed that Garnet was in search of Leviathan The Water Dragon my brother to The Dragon Clan. I was a little apprehensive for he had the power to create tidal waves at will or beck of his master but was sealed because of his ferocity. Garnet freed him and he told her of his power. She was depressed because she couldn't use him for she wanted to stop her mom not kill her. Her mom was down there after a man named Kuja A man who had ferocious power. The man she hunted was Kuja a great Warrior from another planet She took her fleet of ships and her army of mages to fight him. Then she pulled out a stone like any other it was a Garnet.
Suddenly I didn't know what was happening to me. I was being pulled to the stone I was being controlled by her and there was no way to stop it I couldn't pull away from the power.

Part 4

I was summoned by her to fight Kuja to destroy Him and the island my friends were on. I tried to fight the power but it was too strong, she controlled me so I flew up to Kuja and blew him away... or at least thought I did. After the ash settled He emerged flying away on a white dragon I was furious. So I gave chase but in mid flight I felt a shudder as if I was being taken control of again. Suddenly I realized that Kuja used some kind of power to control me all I could do was follow his whim. For his power was unstoppable I couldn’t even fight it. I turned around and started to attack the ships on that of which bore the queens army and herself. But in a desperate pull of strength I veered slightly making my last hit, hit the queens boat on the side salvaging it but it wasn't enough.
As the army was killed and only she was slowly dying.
I watched as Garnet looked over her mother slowly dying on the beach. I watched with pity and grief... grief for Garnet and pity for the greed contained in her mother’s heart. It was this greed that led in her destruction. I also was a bit sorrowful for this woman had finally learned the true value of life L-o-v-e. A love for her daughter but it was too late, she was gone.
Garnet wept as her friends comforted her. I went to consult Ramuh. He told me that this was to be the beginning of a true peace and a journey to a wise and fruitful future. He said not to worry and that all will be well and that I should still keep a watchful eye. I asked him about the power that took control of me and he said that he couldn't help me that he didn’t know what it was except that power that strong can only be from another place. I shuddered what would happen if it had me destroy everything I held dear the lands I had traveled for a decade. I wanted to ask him more but I had to leave with the others.
They journed to Alexandria, the place of Garnets rule, and took along with her mother in which choco bore. I was apprehensive for Garnet was sorrowful and nervous for she now faced the responsibility of running a kingdom and protecting her people. She worried for she felt that it twas her fault and that she could have stopped it yet I and the other summons knew better.
I watched them carefully and asked Ramuh, "If they lose the Princess to the throne will it not make my thief’s heart split in two to lose such a fair beauty?" He replied: "Yes, he will be very heartbroken but only time will mend his broken soul, but it shall make my task more difficult."

Part 5

So as I journeyed to the vast lands, which were that of Alexandria, we visited the shrine in which Garnets people had buried her mother and by we I mean Ramuh and me. We saw her weep for the death of her mother. Her knights loyal and committed by her side. I watched as I saw Zidane enter a tavern and not come out so I listened to his thoughts. They said: "Why? Why is it that now of all times I am cursed never to see her face, her smile her laugh, her laugh is like a song making me want to soar above the clouds."
I watched as his group of thief friends entered the tavern all telling him that he could do it and retrieve his canary. And then I saw some black mage enter. I was a little shocked at the fact that such a magical force could be overlooked by me. I watched intently to see his personality. It turned out he was a wonderer trying to find out his place in life in this world in his thoughts. He was a very serious character. He had asked Zidane if they could go see Garnet. Zidane got up and left with him headed towards the castle.
As they headed on their way they witnessed a monk and a DRAGON KNIGHT! Fighting I was really wondering how many people did I really not know about in this crew of extraordinary fighters. I asked Ramuh about these things that I knew not of. Ramuh replied, "As you went to Oeilvert to learn, this group encountered many foes and friends and two places were demolished, Burmencia and Clerya their people merely scattered to the wind. Megan is one of the last of the Burmencian Dragon knights her skills are very well established she could be quite a foe or quite an ally." "Ally? When would a dragon ally with a dragon knight? Absurd," I thought. Ramuh just replied, "The time will come when you will need her as she will need you."
I looked back at the group. They were going to see Garnet. I flew to the castle and witnessed doctor tot a scholar among anything he knew about us eidolons well how we were summoned our pact and history. He had given Garnet some stones, which I then knew contained the sprit of all of the other eidolons. She was beautiful. In her royal outfit but a bit saddened because she wanted to see Zidane but couldn't now that she was queen. And Zidane couldn't bring himself to lie to her. So both ended up going separate ways for their paths stopped together and started to split. So Zidane and his group headed towards Treno, a city of eternal darkness and thievery. He went to play a card game at the stadium and buy a few things.
So as I watched I witnessed the others as my thief went to play cards, some game called tetra master or something. But what I observed was first the mage. He ran into a man that he knew from the airship. He told him that he was very nice and asked about if his father would be worried about him being here. So he left for his old home near Treno.

Part 6

When he got there all he found was broken memories of a past untold. His grandpa Quan I learned had died, so he sat there pondering his life and the good times and knowledge he had with his grandpa. I left him alone feeling I as invading his privacy.
I then went to watch the girl Eiko. She was a very bouncy loud-mouthed energetic child not much older than that of The mage She was touring the town and I was glad that she was happy for she still held the pact I carried and I made sure she was away from harm. As I approached the auction house I saw the Monk whom I learned was Amarant talking with Freya. I listened intently. It turned out that this was not the first time the monk had run into Zidane and that last time He and Zidane encountered Zidane had stolen from the auction house and framed him. I learned this as he was talking to Freya. It also turned out that she was hunting for her lost love the fiercest Dragon knight of them all Fratley. I was Shocked. This Dragon knight was that of her love the cold-blooded dragon killer. I felt it in my power to prevent her from ever seeing me.
I waited for Zidane's card game to end. So I saw him come out and appeared. Again he jumped. He was still not used to a dragon appearing out of nowhere. So I told him I'd get a signal like a dragonfly or something to show my presence.
I soon went to a cloud and to my shock found much more than Ramuh up there. As I looked on I witnessed many an Eidolon. All seemed to be tied to the same Pact I was. I asked their names. This is what I gathered. The one who wore the outfit of Ice and With the very slender body was Shiva God of Ice, the Goat looking one that was orange with horns was ifrit God of Fire, the one with the six-legged horse and the giant sword was Odin god of Death, the one that looked like and airship was Ark God of Darkness. But what was weird was Atomos was here the Destroyer of Lindblum. He looked like a giant Worm or something. I already had seen Ramuh he looked like a wise man with a long flowing beard. But the one I least expected to see was my cousin my brother in the Dragon clan LEVIATHAN he was here. I flew over to him only to get doused in water. He always did things like that. I said hello and asked him about how he felt about his new owner. He said that the last ones were to scare to use him and that he was glad he could stretch his wings. I said it was good to see him after so long. We journeyed to the outer reaches of Treno. There I found Eikos Eidolon's.
Now these were the most weirdest gods I've seen. There was Carbuncle, the small white Fox with the long red horn, a bird which I learned was Phoenix, a giant long slender phoenix who brought the dead back to life and punished the killer, Fenrir a giant white wolf who had green markings on him he also had the powers over the winds and the earth and lastly I saw the strangest one of all, a giant ferocious moogle with wings and claws and had the power over light. It's name Madeen.

Part 7

I was amazed at how many Eidolons were here and bound to the pact. So I headed back to the Tournament. When I arrived I saw Zidane talking to Regent Cid of that Industrial town I later found out was Lindblum. He was travelling with Sailor Erin Head student of her Aviation class and pilot of Cids Ship The Hilda Garde Three. Anyway they were talking about the tournament and Cid's new ship when Eiko came and told them about something bad hapening at Alexandria. She also told how Garnet was in grave danger. Zidane gathered up the gang and they all boarded the Airship. I took Choco and went to Alexandria reaching it far faster then they did. I left Choco at Chocobos Forest so he would be safe then went to town. What I witnessed was peace and calmness i thought this was odd. I thought the Queen was in danger. Then I saw two clowns in the square I paid them no mind. Then I saw him the one man who controlled me before. With fear in my eyes I saw Kuja and i knew what he was going to do. He looked straight at me with a gleam in his eye and a smirk on his face. He drew the power again and again I was controlled.
I in turn started to try and fight the power but it was stronger this time and I could only watch in horror at the damage I was doing yet couldn't stop. I shot fireballs left and right amongst the town and left some buildings smoldering piles of dust and ash. I witnessed people running and screaming. I wanted it to stop for it to be a bad dream but it wouldn't. So I was out of ideas, then I looked garnet in the eye and she hated me and the destruction I was causing. Then I thought: "wait she's a summoner, she can summon the protector and maybe he'll help."
It was a long shot but it was worth a try. So I took part of my spirit and put it inside her pendant, my body going on it's own course. I realized only then when I was with her that she had only two of the four summoning stones but I said they would have to do and it wouldn't hurt to try. So I lead her up the castle to the highest point near where the Sword of Alexander lay. On the high tower I felt a presence of another summoner so i called Eiko and she did come. Stupiditly she jumped off the airship fifty feet up and came plummiting down without hesitation. I stopped her three feet from Garnet letting her land softly. I told her the summoning spell so she knew what to do. She explained to Garnet there wasn't much time. I soon saw the one thing I never in my life dreamed to see they performed the ritual and out came Alexanders wonderous wings. My body began to use blow after blow against it. But it was futile as it deflected every shot and turned them into holy light and stardust. Then the Wings shot at my body and I realized I needed to get back for the power over me had gone somehow? But all I did was exit the pendant and re-enter my body.
I soon dissapeared and made it seem as if I had been vanquished by the holy. I invisibly watched the following events. As I witnessed the events I finally saw what and why I was controled so easily.

Part 8

An airship I had never seen before came out of the skies with a giant eye in the bottom. I was shocked for the ship was destroying Alexander and wasn't controlling him it enveloped him, in a sound and light I had never seen before. I looked out in horror and saw that it was reversed something had gone wrong, this was not what kuja had intended. It was destroying not harvesting. Alexander vanished and the castle started to crumble and I hoped my friends were alright. So I went to check on them and continue from there on monday.
When I saw them I was relieved when I saw everyone was alright. Then I knew that this man Kuja was from another planet for Alexander only protected when a great danger was near. I vowed to help them till their quest was over. Zidane travled back to Lindblum with Garnet and his other friends full of hatred and sorrow for the destruction and pain caused to Alexandria. Garnet not able to cope with herself stayed silent the whole time.
When they got there I found out that Regent Cid was turned human again. I didn't even know he wasn't a human. Well they found Cid's wife who turns out had changed him. Anyway she told them of Kuja's plan and where a break in the portal to some world called Terra it sounded familliar. I faintly remember when i was a dracling that there was a planet called Terra when gaia was forming. It was said that this planet could not support itself so it and everything on it took over the bodies souls and spirits of everything on other planets til that planet died. I thought it was legend but I guess not. My comrades decided to go to this castle on the Forgotten Continent. It was lipsens Castle. The area of reversing. If something was strong it was weak if it were A heal it would hurt. if it hurt it would heal. It was a nuciance.
I watched overhead and decided to ask Odin something. I asked "isn't it true that you put your sword in the very center of this castle". he replied " yes it was the Tower it has the power to envelop me with the power of wind damage". I was determined to help my friends so I became a floating ghost. Zidane and the others had found mirrors and held them i was wondering why but no matter I tried to get Zidanes attention but failed. Then some monster jumped out of the mirror and battled them. I whispered to garnet use Mega Flare so she did instantly I was summoned. I sped through the sky with a rage and opened my mouth to give a leathal dose of flare. Then suddenly he was enveloped in Bright White and Red flame enfused with the power of crystal magnifying it 20x its normal power. He lay there half dead. But before he expired he said to them something in a forign tounge only Zidane could understand. We retreated back outside.
Once we got out of the castle we asked Zidane what the thing had said it said that the mirrors they picked up were a key to open the portal to Terra where Kuja might be. It also said all is one; one is all. Which must mean that the mirrors must be put in at the same time.
So here was Zidanes maniacal plan. His plan was to split his group into parties of two and place each mirror on their respective places. Here was the problem with this plan. Each one was at one of the elemental shrines of Gaia. I also knew a great spiritual entity matching that of a god existed there.

Part 9

But Zidane was persistant. His first stop was that of the Water Shrine. I wanted to see where the other shrines co-existed but unfortunately he sent garnet and Eiko to this one and I had to Guard her from any danger she might encounter there.
As I witnessed the airship leaving Eiko started to pester Garnet about if she loved Zidane or not and if he were to ask would she marry him. I began to laugh at this conversation because Garnet was turning redder and redder. Trying to aviod all the questions. But deep down inside I think she knew what she felt for him yet was to shy to show it.
All of the Sudden I felt an erie presence. I tried to channell my thoughts to the summoners but they were caught up in their conversation. So I instead channeled them to mog. She agreed that she also sensed the danger. She immediately got out and warned the two.
Suddenly the ceiling Started to fall it was a trap ice was falling creating an extreme situation they ran to the main chamber of the shrine. In there I felt a Spiritual energy unlike any I had felt before. I looked about knowing a presence this strong had to be from something powerful. But where was it I could not see it.
Garnet found where she should place the mirror and started to do so when suddenly a god apperaed. The God that appeared was that of a Giant Squidlike creature obviously a water god. He asked us what we were doing here and Why there wasn't more people here. He then said"Ah, I see, you plan to unlock the path from our two worlds by inserting the mirriors in their different places. It is futile for me and my brothers are the guardians of the mirrors we shall destroy you. I watched with curiosity because this god was not of this earth nor of great power. I watched as Garnet battled with it Eiko right behind her.

Part 10

I watched in amazement as Garnet Fiercely fought with the water god and wore him down as did Eiko. But as the saying goes only a God can kill a god and so she Summoned Ramuh. Ramuh only happy to oblige threw down his staff with a Lightning bolt following closely behind it Killing the poor defenseless God.
I appladed his work and watched as she inserted the mirror. Eiko after the battle was complaining the whole time on how could Zidane put them alone on such a dangerous mission.
I laughed at the scowl he would get when she got onboard. then at the exit of the cave came the question that she had been meaning to ask the whole time. Eiko asked Garnet if she loved Zidane. At this point i raored with laughter and watched intently. Garnet had turned really really red and was quiet.
Then the airship came and she hopped on and said they had to go. Eiko only retorting with hey that' not fair! I followed amused and high spirited. We then journeyed to the Terran Shrine. A place avoided by us gods since time began.
