Poem by Whitefire (2007)

 Poem by Whitefire (2007)

Clouds of Night

Wisps of clouds hovering on the brink of nothing
Questioning the darkness like wise men
Floating easily by as the wind beneath my wings
Pushes them aside like weightless air
Then they flicker quietly into the darkness
As if they were never there
Not wondering why they could not stay longer
Not wondering why they are being pushed away
They become the black of night
Allowing the stars to shine through
And never once wondering why it was they who disappeared
Why the stars, the night, and I remain
Why we don't flicker quietly
Into the darkness.

(2007)
