Dragoness
 
Deep within a lair lies a dragoness,
Her heart is heavy for she is so alone,
Her kind is so few and it breaks her spirit,
She only desires to see one more of her kind.

Stretching gracefully spreading her wings,
She wonders to the entrance of her lair,
Gazing out she looks up at the stars,
A dragons love is all she wants to find.

Darkness to shroud her from discovery,
For most fear this beautiful creature,
She takes a few steps and pushes off,
Flapping her great wings she takes flight.

She loves the wind caressing her wings,
The starry, moonlite sky above her,
The glistening ocean below her,
For a moment she can forget her hearts plight.

The sounds and scents of the night surround her,
She revels in the beauty of the earth all around,
Soaring so high she can almost touch the stars,
Closing her eyes she glides with beauty and grace.

Gazing into the distance she longs for a mate,
A dragon to share these flights with,
To give all the love she has in her heart,
A dragon who can appreciate this place.


The dragoness weeps for a love not yet found,
Flying high and far she comes upon a forrest,
The great trees are larger than she has ever seen,
Landing she enters, quiet as the whisper of dove.

Exploring the new terrain she hears a cry,
Somewhere in the distance is a soul in pain,
Going further into the forrest she seeks the source,
In a clearing she beholds, a dragon, her lost love.

With her heart brimming with joy she approaches,
Softly she nuzzles him and whispers to him,
No longer must they search or be alone,
Gazing into her eyes the dragon sees her heart.

Looking into her eyes he is filled with joy,
The future that once looked bleak now has hope,
Before him stands his hearts desire, his mate,
They both know they shall never be apart.
